Metal Love

DragonForce rocks, seriously rocks. The hammering of Herman Li is simply put, amazing. The lyrics of all the members, as they all sing backup or leads, is melodic, uplifting, and ofcourse epic. Their music is fast and has tons of guitar rifts that just send me rocking out, even while at work.

I heard of them via a homebrew/hacked version of GuitarHero II which I had the joy of playing while visiting my friend Chris in Savanna Georgia just a few weeks ago. The song was played by Chris and his friend Jason. They are both amazing GuitarHero II players and they played one of DragonForce’s best songs, Through The Fire And Flames, as a challenge to themselves. They can hit 80 to 90% of the over 15,000 notes played within the song. After hearing it a few times I began to hum it, tap my foot, and learn the lyrics. I did not know it, but I had fallen for power metal.

Maybe its because I just started to learn to play guitar (acoustic) and I have a full understanding of how incredibly hard it is or maybe I am just a music lemming; liking whatever I hear enough. All I know is that I own DragonForce’s entire discology. I am attempting to find other similar sounding bands and see how far into metal I can go. Maybe, when I pick up my first electric guitar I will start to play metal or, *gasp*, join a metal band….
